GLOBAL PATENT & PRODUCT LANDCAPE STUDY ON CONNECTED VEHICLES

ANALYZED BY M-SON IP's SUBJECT MATTER EXPERTS (NOT AUTOMATED)

 DASHBOARD OVERVIEW

Overview of 118K+ relevant patent families (over 300K+ patent filings) until MARCH 2023 is presented below

SCOPE OF THE STUDY

1) Detailed analysis of the patent and product landscape for Connected Vehicle Technologies.

    a) Analysis was performed by M-Son IP's subject matter experts personally analyzing the patents, not by software, algorithm or other shortcut.

    b) Patent Selection Criteria: Patents that disclose vehicles having in-built internet connection or a mobile phone with internet feature located in vehicle.

2) Covers patents published worldwide up to March 2023, including foreign-translated patents from China, Japan, Korea and many other non-English jurisdictions.

3) Includes analysis of >25000 applicants, >150K Inventors, 56 countries and much more.

4) Represents more than a yearlong undertaking by the subject matter experts of M-Son IP including approx. 16000 work hours (over four years of manpower) to execute the following:

Filtering for Relevant Patents & Products:

a) Filtered over 2,50,000 patents potentially relating to the connected car landscape resulting from a comprehensive global search of patents published between March 1997 and March 2023

b) Searched for any public disclosures of commercialized products in the landscape for the top 200 patent applicants in the industry. (Top 200 applicants were searched but found 97 applicants to be actually commercializing)

c) Identified around 118K+ directly relevant unique patents, as well as around 1,475 related products.

d) Filtering was performed by subject matter experts personally reviewing the patents & products, not by software, algorithm or other shortcut.

Proprietary Database of Key Information

a) Relevant information extracted from the patent & product disclosures (through human analysis) was then used to construct a proprietary database organized by carefully identified taxonomies ranging from high-level to detailed-level concepts. (See Taxonomies section below).

b) Importantly, these taxonomies were identified and created from the unbiased perspective of what was learned from reading over 33,000 patent and product disclosures.

c) This context-driven data is not obtainable using commercially available software or algorithms, and is of much higher quality standards than any shortcut methods used by others relating to patent classification searching, semantic searching, keyword shortcuts, etc.

Analysis of Patent & Product Data – Insights & Customized Tools

a) M-Son IP’s team, having deep experience in IP strategy for new product development and patent landscape analysis, analyzed the data and drafted various market, technical and legal insights.

b) Developed unique charting/graphing tools to assist the user in performing further independent analysis to navigate the massive amount of data contained in the study and generate their own
customized insights.
